Debra Finch has been practicing law in Athens and the surrounding communities since 1993. She has successfully litigated and settled a countless number of family law matters. Years ago, Debra decided to dedicate her practice to Adoption Law and Child Advocacy Law. She is passionate about representing children and helping prospective parents grow their families through adoption.
She has represented families and children from all walks of life and in all seasons of life.
Long before Obergefell v. Hodges, Debra Finch worked with same sex couples who sought to expand their families and gain legal recognition and protection for their children.
Debra is an adoptive parent. Her free time is devoted to her daughter and volunteering with organizations whose mission is to improve the lives of children and their families.
She is one of the founding organizers of the Western Circuit’s Access to Justice Initiative. She is also Chair of the Family Law Section of the Western Circuit Bar Association.
Debra is an active member of the Georgia Council of Adoption Lawyers (GCAL), an organization representing Georgia’s most accomplished adoption lawyers. GCAL played an integral part in the revamping of Georgia’s adoption laws in 2018 with the passage of House Bill 159. That legislation made sweeping changes to Georgia’s adoption code and resulted in greater protections for Georgia’s children and adoptive families.
Finally, Debra is honored to have been rated at the highest level of professional excellence – AV Preeminent – by her peers and members of the judiciary based on her legal abilities and ethical practices.
